The Oscars are my Superbowl. From the first red carpet look through the last stammering speech, I am not ashamed to admit that I am totally captivated by the Academy Awards. I think what our culture loves so much is that the Oscars offer us a chance to see actors “playing” themselves. Every year I am drawn in by their “authentic vulnerability” while giving their acceptance speeches, yet the whole evening is still clouded in that cinematic atmosphere we all so clearly crave. To help celebrate Hollywood’s big night, I have created a printable Oscar ballot (click link at the bottom of the post for the PDF). This year, Daniel and I will be hosting a handful of our friends for a small viewing party and it will be fun to see who had the most accurate ballot. I had the opportunity to collaborate with Lauren, the talented creative behind Hooray Party Co. on some fun custom paper goods to add a little glitz and glamour to our party, they turned out so well that I nearly squealed when they arrived! I couldn’t resist including this adorable Oscar statue she made as a sneak peak of her Oscar-inspired, paper genius! The 89th Academy Awards are next Sunday making this your last weekend to head to the theater and catch up on any of the nominees you haven’t seen yet! What films are still on your list? Do you think La La Land will clean house as predicted?
