Daniel and I get to host my side of the family for Thanksgiving this year and I couldn’t be more excited! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays and it feels so incredibly “adult” to get to host my parents, siblings and their spouses in our home. I have already started a mental check list of the things that I would like to finish or do in our home before everyone arrives and a few final touches to our guest room, like a proper bed, are at the very top of the list.
When I started digging through my old Pinterest boards I noticed a pretty distinct trend in my guest room vision: metal beds. One of my favorite things about wrought iron beds is that they are trend resistant, a claim that I am afraid can’t be made by my other top choice, the tufted headboard. I love their unique ability to be ornate while remaining subtle and I am so drawn to how the classic, clean lines of an iron bed can bring some old world charm to a room. Above all else, there is just something so irresistibly cozy about them!
While I imagine our guest room having a much more airy, feminine quality than this image, I love how diverse metal beds can be! The masculine bedding with the exposed brick really brings out the industrial characteristics of the bed’s design.
This image sort of epitomizes that old world charm that I associate with metal beds. Since our guest room also has painted black floors and is flooded with natural light it was easy to borrow some inspiration from this cozy room.
Absolutely love with what lizlovegrowswild did with this sweet little wreath. I will definitely be stealing this idea during the holidays! I love how unique and elegant this metal bed looks. I am not sure I have ever seen anything like it! There is nothing more welcoming to me than a room filled with light and comfortable, fluffy bedding.
I absolutely love the simplicity of this look. You really can’t go wrong with grey and white stripes and it’s such a great idea to put a surface at the foot of the bed. The leather trunk is great for your guests to put their suitcase on and for you to store extra blankets for the winter.
Luckily there are some attractive and affordable metal bed options out there. I know for our guest room we want a dark metal and I am particularly drawn to either this option from Target or this one from Overstock.
I can’t wait to put the finishing touches on our guest room in the next few weeks! I expect to finish the floors this week and hopefully we can move all the furniture back in over the three day weekend. Hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend planned!
