As many of you know, I have been in a love affair with french macarons for a few years now. These temperamental, fickle cookies stole my heart after the first bite and I have made it my life’s work to master the art of baking them ever since. Our deeply romantic relationship is what inspired me to dedicate yesterday evening to some Valentinesdayish macarons. I stuck with my favorite recipe, but instead of a full tsp. of vanilla I did half a tsp. of vanilla and the other half of raspberry extract. I then added three drops of red food coloring to the meringue to give it a soft rose quartz color.
As pretty as they were when they came out of the oven, I decided to give them a little something extra. Ever since I discovered edible gold spray paint, I have been using it on everything. This time I cut out simple paper “X” and “O” templates to give my cookies some Valentine’s flair. I am really looking forward to popping the champagne and enjoying a few of these delicious little cookies with my handsome husband this weekend. I hope you all have an amazing Valentines Day and that yours too is full of X’s and O’s!
